Sanaz joined the GEOEssential project in October 2019. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Institute working at the quantitative biogeography working group. Her main contribution to the project is the development of workflows to monitor essential biodiversity variables and ecosystem indicators using Copernicus products, and GEOSS tools and services.

Sanaz is an expert in remote sensing and GIS data analysis and modeling. She defended her PhD degree in Energy Resource-Earth Observation/GIS from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, Twente University, the Netherlands, in 2014. Her first MSc degree focused on Environmental Geology, Shiraz University and her second MSc is in applied computational science and engineering from Imperial College London. Since 2006, she has used remote sensing and geospatial data and tools to monitor and assess environmental and energy resources issues.
